SHALLOTTE — Barbara Ann Milligan Reaves, 81, died of natural causes Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017. Barbara was born July 21, 1935, to Richmond Milligan and Maggie Mae Pigott Milligan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Reaves; and sisters, Dora Ellen Neal and Toni Morgan.
She was a graduate of Shallotte High School, Class of 1953. Barbara was the first employee of Brunswick Technical College in 1979 and continued employment at the college until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of the North Carolina Association of Community College Business Officials. She was recognized by the association for faithful service on July 31, 1997.
Barbara is survived by two sons, Allison (Hope) Reaves and Michael Reaves; daughter, Wanda Reaves; grandchildren, Leslie Reaves Cain, Monica Britt, Courtney Reaves, Brittany (Bradley) Hood, Jessica Dier (Cody Moore), Austin Hester and Savanah Hester; great-grandchildren, Dowless Reaves, Tyler Cain, Allysun Cain, Brayten Hood, Norah Hood, Adelaide Hood, Trinity Bennett and Tabitha Bennett.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Bethesda United Methodist Church, where she was a loved and longtime member. The family will receive friends at the church at 10 a.m.
