WILMINGTON — Frances Woodham Smith, 103, passed to be with the Lord Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017.
She was born in Darlington County, S.C., on Christmas day, Dec. 25, 1913, to Thomas Emberry Woodham and Guella M. Woodham.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Myer Smith; and one son, Stephen Barclay Smith.
She is survived by her sons, Marshall Graham Smith and Jerry Milton Smith of Wilmington; brother, Thomas “Mack” Woodham, and his wife, Betty, of Hartsville, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Trevor Smith of Jersey City, N.J., and Amber Smith of Tallahassee, Fla.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Greenville, S.C., alongside her predeceased husband.
The family would like to extend special thanks for the support they received from the staff of Wilmington Health and Rehabilitation and Lower Cape Fear Hospice. Also, thanks for selfless support from countless friends and neighbors including, Lee Rowland, Billie Carroll, Lisa Moore and Suzanne Springer.
Her memory will live with us forever.
