Paul MacArthur Canada Jr., 90, entrepreneur who established three companies

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH — Paul MacArthur Canada Jr., 90, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at his residence.

Born Jan. 19, 1927, in Elizabeth, N.J., he is a son of Paul M. Canada Sr. and Bobbie Schairer Canada. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances “Fran” Canada; sister, Betty May Choquette; and his grandson, David M. Wood IV.

Mr. Canada is survived by his children, Bobbie Wood, and husband, David, Laura Jean Canada, Paul M. Canada III, and former wife, Susan, and Christopher Mark Canada; grandchildren, Elena Wood, Cory Daniels, Alexis Daniels, Trevor Daniels, Margaret Canada, Paul M. Canada IV and Amanda O’Donnell.

Mr. Canada was a graduate of Mt. Herman Prep School and Dartmouth College. He served his country during World War II and Korea, retiring after 23 years as U.S. Navy commander.

He was a member of St. Andrews On-the-Sound Episcopal Church. His work career spanned from sales at IBM, entrepreneur of three companies to vice president of a management consulting firm when he retired at the age of 78.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 13, at St. Andrews On-the-Sound Episcopal Church.

Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Canada’s memory to Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
