

ST. JAMES — Leonard Lewis Lampl, 76, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017.
Mr. Lampl was born Oct. 7, 1940, as the 9th of 10 children of Adam and Mary Lampl. He was a native of North Dakota and lived there until July 1961, when he enlisted in the U.S. Army. After two-and-a-half years, he was employed by Schlitz Corporation and later Anheuser-Busch for 30 years.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sue Anderson Lampl; son Brian Lampl, and his wife, Laurie, of Leesburg, Va.; two daughters, Amy Szatanek, and her husband, Jeffrey, of Huntingtown, Md., and Julie Liptak, and her husband, John, of Cary. He was the proud grandfather of Andrew, Paige and Nick Lampl, Adam, Nathan and Ben Szatanek and Joey, Matthew and Josh Liptak. He is also survived by his sister, Margie Lampl Ganzer, and her husband, Keith.
A funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Trent Watts officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Inurnment will follow the service in the church columbarium. A reception will be held in the church gathering hall.
