

WILMINGTON — Alton H. Kemp, 89, of Flemington Community, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017.
Alton retired as a professional truck driver. He was a member of Light House Independent Baptist Church in Bolivia.
He was born on May 23, 1927, to John and Leila Kemp. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Gold Kemp; and his brother, Chalmers Kemp.
He is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Mitchell (Al Mitchell) of Stonington, Conn.; grandchildren, Buddy and Martha Malpass of Leland, Betty Shaw of Whiteville, Linda Malpass of Wilmington, Tracey and Tom Turner of Preston, Conn., Stephanie and David Croughwell of Lisbon, Allen and Heather Mitchell of Griswold, and George Mitchell of Pawcatuck, Conn.; great-grandchildren, Abby, Anna, Brie, and Lillian Mitchell, Jennifer and Patrick Croughwell, Chris, Lizzy and Grace Turner, Allen Mitchell, Sheila and Jason Castagnaro, Cindy Simmons, Jennifer Osborne Ashley and Kenny Agin, Travis Shaw, Cynthia Rose and Amanda Buff; great-great-grandchildren, Hannah, Jake Agin, Jaden and Grason, Sylah Haley, Justin, Josh, Madison and Jase; nephew, Clay Kemp; and nieces, Janet and Tina.
The family will see friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 3, at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, at Wilmington Funeral Chapel officiated by Pastor Robert Lucas. Burial will be held in Riverview Memorial Park, Wallace.
