WILMINGTON — Sally Mason Kilbourn Fore, 69, died peacefully Sunday, March 5, 2017, in Wilmington after a courageous battle with cancer.

Sally was born in Groton, Mass., Dec. 15, 1947, and was raised in Delray Beach, Fla.

She is survived by her fiancé, Kenneth Gallant; daughter, Laura Martin Drew (Burke); and grandson, Rowan Drew. She is also survived by Kenneth’s family, Kenneth Gallant Jr. (Heidi), and their daughter (granddaughter) Danielle, along with grandchildren Kelly Manz (Kyle), their daughter (great-granddaughter) Kasey, as well as Kyle Grady and Tyler Konan (Ann-Marie).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Elizabeth Benedict Kilbourn and George Rogers Kilbourn.

Sally raised her daughter in Georgetown, S.C. There, she worked for the City of Georgetown Water Department and volunteered for the Boy Scouts of America and the Georgetown Police Auxiliary.

Sally’s outgoing personality was perfect for her work in theater, including productions for the Swamp Fox Players Theater Group and Georgetown Chamber of Commerce’s annual Ghostbusting Tour. While in Georgetown, she earned her degree in business administration. It was later, after her daughter married, that Sally moved to Massachusetts, where she met Kenneth.

Sally was a go-go dancer in the sixties, so it should be no surprise that she was the life of the party. Her fun, gregarious spirit will be missed by her friends and family.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at the Wilmington Funeral & Cremation Village Road Chapel. Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, March 9, in the Village Road Chapel. There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, in the Groton Cemetery, 242 Hollis Street, Groton, Mass.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff of the Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
