

WILMINGTON — Ina Olson Sinhel, 96, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at Lower Cape Fear Hospice on Sunday, March 5, 2017.
Ina was born in Nelson County, N.D., Dec. 29, 1920.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ingeborg and Frank Olson; three brothers, Harold, Lynn and Paul; husband, Nicholas Sinhel; and son, Robert.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Sinhel Rumsey (Joe); grandchildren, Melissa and Joseph Rumsey and Alison Rumsey Linkner (Kent); and great-grandchildren, Matthew and Marlie Linkner.
As part of the “Greatest Generation,” Ina served her country during and after World War II working for the War Department, traveling to French Guiana, Hawaii and Tokyo.
Possessing a strong work ethic, she worked hard throughout her life. Ina retired as office manager from Southeastern Orthopedic after many years of dedicated service.
She was known for her love of flowers, her passion for gardening and was most happy when she was digging in the dirt.
Ina will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, unwavering strength and her unconditional love of family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 9, at Andrews Valley Chapel. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 10, at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Samuel Zumwalt officiating. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff of the Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
