Robert Wilson ‘Bob’ Morgan, 85, enjoyed a teaching career for 30 years

WILMINGTON — Robert Wilson “Bob” Morgan, 85, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Trinity Grove. Bob was born Sept. 14, 1931, in Hamlet, North Carolina, the son of the late William Morgan and Jessie McQuaige Morgan.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Hinton, Willie and Benny; and sisters, Nancy, Edna and Julia.

Surviving are his wife of over 60 years, Edna Bostic Morgan; sister, Myrtle Ratzel; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Elizabeth Kelly; and many loving siblings-in-law.

Bob earned a bachelor’s degree with honors from N.C. State University and a master’s degree and an Education Specialist Degree from George Peabody College for Teachers. He completed advanced graduate studies at Temple University. While at N.C. State, Bob was a member of the wrestling team and remained an avid N.C. State fan throughout his life. He taught school for 30 years, retiring from the School District of Philadelphia. Bob was a member of Silver Lake Baptist Church.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 24, at Silver Lake Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in East Duplin Memorial Gardens, 2284 East Hwy 24, Beulaville, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Silver Lake Baptist Church, 4715 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington, NC 28412.

The family would like to express a special note of thanks to the staff at Trinity Grove, Bob’s church family and his special caregivers for all of their care and support.
