OCEAN ISLE BEACH — Frederick Mitchell “Fred” Taylor, 78, formerly of Kinston, died Monday, March 20, 2017, at Grand Strand Medical Center.

Mr. Taylor was born in Lenoir County, N.C., Feb. 26, 1939, and was the son of the late John B. Taylor and Sally Olive Mae Taylor. He was a retired funeral attendant. Mr. Taylor was a member of Old Shallotte Baptist Church and former longtime and devoted member of Rivermont Baptist Church in Kinston. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by two children, Lisa Gail Taylor of Kinston and Richard Dean Taylor of Ocean Isle Beach; six grandchildren, Michael Taylor, Brandon Taylor, Katelyn Grant, Ronnie Gentile, Ashley Smith and Michelle Gentile; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Brad Taylor of Kinston; sister, Lettie Thigpen of Calypso, N.C.; and numerous special nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to a time of visitation with the family from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 24, at Old Shallotte Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at the church with the Rev. Rory Thigpen officiating. The interment service will be private. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 27, at Rivermont Baptist Church, Kinston, N.C., with the Rev. Ronnie Davis officiating.
