WILMINGTON — Jerry Alton “Al” Hammond Jr., 59, went to his heavenly home Sunday, March 26, 2017.
He was born in Fayetteville, N.C., July 29, 1957, to Jerry Hammond Sr. of Wilmington and the late Geraldine Wood Hammond.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his sister, Loretta Cedar; and brother, David Hammond.
Al drove tankers for over 10 years and was a lifetime plumber. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing and playing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his father, Jerry Hammond Sr., long-time companion, Antoinette Williams; sons, Jason and Josh Hammond and Corey Williams; daughter, Jessica Williams; and brother, Robbie Hammond.
Services will be held on Sunday, April 1, at Sunset Park Baptist Church. Family visitation will be at 1 p.m. with memorial service to follow at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Relay for Life or Sunset Park Baptist Church.
