SOUTHPORT — Pauline “Jeannette” Robards Pierce passed away Friday, April 14, 2017, at her home, known as ‘Nannie’s Nut House,’ of 50 years.

She was born April 1, 1932, in Rocky Mount, N.C., to Joseph H. Robards and Olivanza E. Dickens. She was preceded in death by her husband, James (Buddy – Milky) Pierce; son, James (Davey) Pierce; daughter-in-law, Tammy Whitt Pierce; grandson, Matthew Johnson; and siblings, Vivian R. Hodges, J. Linwood Robards, Eulis E. Robards and Dorothy R. Chewning.

Jeannette, known by many as “Nannie,” just recently celebrated her 85th birthday surrounded by family and friends. She wore many hats as homemaker, caregiver and worked at Brunswick County DSS.

Jeannette is survived by her children, Libby Johnson, and her husband, Butch, of Andrews, S.C.; grandson, Michael Johnson, and his wife, Charlotte, of Rutherfordton, N.C.; Beverly Harrison, and her husband, Ronnie, of Bolivia; granddaughter, Angela Coring, and her husband, Todd, of Southport; Joe Pierce of Southport; grandsons, Brett Pierce, and his wife, Tish, of Southport, Jessie Pierce, and his wife, Melissa, of Rocky Point, N.C., and Marty Pierce of Cannon Falls, Minn.; and her grandson, Christopher Presson, and his wife, Erika, of Burnsville, Minn.; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.

A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, April 17, at Generations Church, 4874 Old Long Beach Road, Southport.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
