WILMINGTON — Joyce Rabey, 81, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the Davis Community.

She was born in Newark, N.J., and grew up in Union, where she spent most of her well-lived life. After graduating from Union High in 1954, she got married and worked for the phone company until the birth of her three girls. Joyce enjoyed making crafts, volunteering at Connecticut Farms Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and elder, and making people laugh!

Joyce loved being a mother, sister, aunt, and later, a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was adored by all who knew her.

Joyce was preceded in death by her brother, Ken, and survived by her daughters, Susan (Joe) of Wilmington, N.C., Carol (George) of Kenilworth, N.J., Nancy (Mike) of Allentown, Pa., along with her sister, Carol (Tom); sister-in-law, Gloria; grandchildren, Dawn, Daniel, Jesse, Jonathan and Michael; and great-grandchildren, Sienna, Silas, Shane, Celeste and Emma. She also had several nieces and nephews who dearly loved her.

We would like to thank the staff at Lower Cape Fear Hospice for all their aid and care for Joyce.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 21, at Andrews Market Street Chapel, 1617 Market St., Wilmington. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, at the funeral home.
