WILMINGTON – Kathy Futrelle Britt, age 70, of Wilmington, passed away on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice, in the warm embrace of her family.
She was born on Jan. 2, 1946, in Whitmire, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Andrew Silas Futrelle and Kathleen Andrews Futrelle.
She had a real estate license and had an office in Wrightsville Beach. She enjoyed being on the water and was an excellent water skier. Among the other pleasures she enjoyed in life were spending time with her family, camping and bird watching, particularly hummingbirds, which were her favorite.
Together with her mother, Kathleen Andrews Futrelle, she is survived by her beloved husband Gerald Milton Britt, whom she met as a neighbor when both were very young, dated through high school and then married in April of 1964. She is also survived by: her two sons, Gerald Milton Britt Jr. and his wife Gina, and Brandon Michael Britt and his wife Michelle; and five grandchildren, Megan Michelle Britt, Abby Diane Britt, Elizabeth Graceann Britt, Addison McKenzie Britt and Gerad Britt.
Kathy was predeceased by her father Andrew Silas Futrelle and brothers Richard Futrelle and Mack Futrelle.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, from 6 p.m. till 7 p.m. at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel 1535 S.41st Street Wilmington, NC 28403. A service to celebrate her life will follow at 7 p.m.
