SUNSET BEACH – Barbara Blanchard Coley, 88, of Sunset Beach, North Carolina, passed away on Friday Sept. 9, 2016 at Universal Health Care Center in Bolivia, North Carolina.
She was born in Thomaston, Connecticut, on Aug. 10, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Napolean and Lillian (Knox) Blanchard.
For many years, she was a office manager for a dental office. Before her retirement, when she lived in Connecticut, she was manager for the Thomaston Bank and also administrator of the Farmington Saving Bank.
She loved to dance, knit, crochet and she was an avid reader, she also wrote and publish a book “Mandy’s Legacy.” She was direct descendant of John Knox of the Presbyterian Church. She loved her Lord and her Church.
She is survived by her husband of 11 years, Ralph Coley of Sunset Beach North Carolina; one son Mark E. Sears and wife Pam of Torrington, Connecticut; one daughter, Elly Sears of Thomaston, Connecticut; two brothers, Walter Williams of Texas and Carlton Williams of Thomaston; she was also survived by eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Timothy E. Sears and her daughter, Barbara L. Kennette.
A celebration of Mrs. Coley’s life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 2:30 p.m., at Sunset Beach Community Church, 1643 Seaside Road SW. Ocean Isle, NC 28469
