Richard David DelColle, 70, ranger with Founders Club Golf Course

ST. JAMES — Richard David DelColle, 70, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017.

Mr. DelColle was born Feb. 25, 1947, in Philadelphia, Penn., the son of the late Louis Edward DelColle and Frances Rose DelColle. He grew up in Levittown, Penn., and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1965. He has worked for RCA and was stationed in Thule, Greenland, in 1968.

Mr. DelColle worked 34 years as a salesman for the Courier Post Newspaper in Cherry Hill, N.J., retiring in 2002. He had coached girls’ soccer in Willingboro, N.J., for several years, and was affectionately known as “Coach D.” In his retirement, he worked for the Founders Club Golf Course as a ranger. Mr. DelColle was a master model plane, ship and car builder. He enjoyed attending monthly World War II and Civil War round-table meetings.

Survivors include his wife, Sande DelColle; daughter, Jeanne DelColle of Absecon, N.J.; son, Rob DelColle of Bensalem, Penn.; two stepsons, John Funston, and his wife, Milagros Saez, of Lititz, Penn., and Joel Funston, and his wife, Stephanie, of Pottstown, Penn.; stepdaughter, Candace Funston of Cherry Hill, N.J.; sister, Cecilia Coughlin, and her husband, Jim, of Tucson, Ariz.; and three step-grandchildren, Alexander, Lora and Erin Funston.

A funeral Mass will be held at noon Friday, May 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Doug Lawson officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church. An additional celebration of life service will be held at a later date in South Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ‘Harry’s Fund’ of the National Downe Syndrome Society, serving Brunswick and New Hanover Counties.
