Elizabeth ‘Lib’ Rice Britt

Elizabeth ‘Lib’ Rice Britt, 84, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Wilmington.

She was born May 4, 1933, in Lumberton, N.C., to Neil and Myrel Rice. In 1953, she married her husband of 63 years, Jesse “J.W.” Britt.

Lib had a loving and giving spirit and was rarely seen without a smile on her face. Throughout her lifetime, she had a steadfast faith in God and was an active member of Winter Park Baptist Church.

Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Susanne Cover of Hope Mills, N.C., and Pamela Warren, and her husband, Mark, of Louisburg, N.C., two sisters, Yvonne Wilkins of Lumberton, N.C., and Betty Speed of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren, Ryan Cover, Rebecca Cover, Justin Cover, Patrick Warren and Rachel Warren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lib was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Britt Tyson; sister, Naomi Rice; and granddaughter, Jessica Cover.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, at Winter Park Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service in Fellowship Hall. Interment will follow services in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America, or Winter Park Baptist Church.
