Douglas Leslie ‘Doug’ Williams, 89, member of the American Legion

SHALLOTTE — Douglas Leslie “Doug” Williams, 89, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017, at his residence.

Mr. Williams was born in Frankford Plains, N.J., on April 12, 1928, to the late Joseph Bonner and Cora Emma Smith Williams. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, and a member of the American Legion and VFW. Doug was an avid golfer and bowler.

In addition to his family, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Donald, George, Merle, Everett, Harland, Gerald, Kenneth, Stanley, Harry Williams and Barbara Summers.

Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Christine Williams; son, Douglas Williams of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.; daughter, Susan Williams of Shallotte; grandchildren, Deanna L. Williams and Dashsa L. Williams; three sisters-in-law, Rosalie Masuck of Westown, N.Y., Jean H. Williams of Slate Hill, N.Y., and Marion Williams of Oak Island, N.C.; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Funeral services will be private.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests, with gratitude, that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
