WILMINGTON — Donald (Don) Phillips, 74, of Wilmington, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016. For 16 years he fought the good fight with Parkinson’s Disease and now he has finished the course and received his healing in Heaven. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grand father, brother, uncle, and servant of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mr. Phillips is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 54 years, Sarah Hunnicutt Phillips; his two daughters Becky Phillips Sanderson (Dale), and Christy Ann Phillips; four grandchildren Timothy Wayne Horrell II (Christina), Sarah Horrell Richardson (Thomas), Hannah Horrell Swain (Myles), and Dylan Reid Phillips; five great-grandchildren, Shawn, Bentley and Camden Richardson and Trey and Asher Horrell. He is also survived by one sister, Susan Phillips Reeves, and two brothers Steven and Michael Phillips, all of Wilmington.
Don was a loyal employee of General Electric for 33 years, a faithful member of Myrtle Grove Evangelical Presbyterian Church, an avid golfer and the heart of his loving family. He will be missed greatly, but will remain in our hearts forever.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Myrtle Grove Evangelical Presbyterian Church, followed by a time of fellowship and sharing of memories in the church’s fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests making a donation in Mr. Phillips’ memory to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice of Wilmington or the American Parkinson’s Disease Association.
