SOUTHPORT — Barbara Anne Pierce, 84, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 26, 2017, after a brief illness.
She is survived by her husband, William Pierce; daughters, Linda Wall, Julie Stevens and Jeannette Depew; beloved grandchildren, Angela Wall, Kosima Wall, Joshua Wall, Celestia Star, Bryan Johnson, Trevor Johnson, Chelsey Ehrle and Dalton Ehrle; and adoring great-grandsons, Gage Emry and River Johnson.
Barbara Pierce was born May 31, 1932, in Shreveport, La., the eldest of two sisters.
Barbara had a movie-star life and attitude. She always reached for the golden ring in life. She was a world traveler and never met a stranger. She had a lifetime of friends in many places around the world.
As the “hostess with the mostess,” her entertaining was legendary through the land. As a master gardener, her world was surrounded in the beauty of flowers. She enriched the lives of others with her laughter and love.
She was an avid reader and writer, having many of her poems and stories published in her local newspapers.
Her joy was her family, which she shared with the exuberance of Christmas morning. Life was her oyster as she glided on her fashion-show stage.
She had the sunniest of smiles, and the warmest of hearts. She was always ready for an adventure, especially if it involved shopping.
She left us too soon, and with heavy hearts, we lay her to rest at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 1, at Trinity Methodist Church, Southport, for a sunset celebration of her life.
